Built by a cruise-ship company, the Wyndham Nassau Resort features Art Deco design and cruise-ship touches like decorative "portholes" and brass handrails. Light-blue and violet tubes, resembling ships' smokestacks, run up and down and along buildings' corners and edges. Large, domed skylights cover many public areas.
The resort's 30,000-square-foot casino is open daily. The casino features Art Deco design, with chrome columns and a ceiling of gleaming black and copper strips. The casino offers over 400 coin-less slot machines, and nearly 40 table games, and video poker blackjack machines. Guests may also wager at the casino’s sports book and try their luck at high-limit slot and table game area.
A 4,500-square-foot health club contains cardio and weight machines, free weights, and a workout area. Massage, body polishes, and facials are also available. Supervised programs for children ages 4–12 are conducted in an air-conditioned clubhouse and on a sand playground, with day and evening sessions available (next door at the Sheraton; per-hour surcharges).

Getting there: There is no regular shuttle service from the airport so the easiest way to get to the hotel is by taxi. Fare is US$5–$15 for the first 2 passengers and US$3 for each additional person. Rental cars, Town Cars, and limousines are more than US$36. Rental cars are available online.
Getting around: The easiest ways to get around are on foot and by public buses, also known as jitneys. The #10 bus comes by the front door and heads to downtown shopping and tourist sites for fares of less than US$5. Water taxis cross from behind the Straw Market in Nassau to Paradise Island, for return fares of US$5–$15. Water taxis and buses stop running at dusk. Scooters are also a popular way to tour and rent for more than US$36. Driving British-style (on the left) along narrow streets and through roundabouts is daunting for most visitors so if going longer distances, taxis are best. Island-hopping is possible through Bahamas Ferries which runs catamarans to out islands including Eleuthera and Harbour Island from Potter’s Cay between the old and new Paradise Island bridges. Or visitors can travel as the locals do, on mailboats which leave for the out islands from Potter’s Cay or Prince George Wharf, but passage can run on “Bahamas time” (slowly) and cargo can include livestock. Return fares for both ferries and mailboats are more than US$36.
